I grew up in Corte Madera. I went through the local public school system and finished at College of Marin. I soon met Valerie. A year later we were married in England and thirty years ago we bought our home in Santa Venetia. The house was reasonably priced, close to everything, better for commuting and on the water. The neighbors were wonderful and it offered everything I wanted. I worked as a union Glazier in construction, raised three girls and lived my middle class existence. I still enjoy working on my home, a family house at Clear Lake and traveling. Except for contributing to a three month volunteer project at Gallinas School, I was satisfied with just reading the newsletter and letting someone else get involved. I had my own projects. Two years ago I retired and had more spare time. I joined six volunteer efforts including this Board. I now had another purpose and I was finally giving back to this quiet place I love. By volunteering I made many new friends, feel closer to past ones and have been rewarded many times. |
